Salt Review 1
Vol. 38 No. 1 (2012)Dear Readers,
We are presenting a new issue of our monograph entitled “Salt Review”, prepared in
cooperation with the AGH University of Science and Technology Press in Krakow. Owing
to a large number of submitted papers and reports on the salt industry and business, this
year’s edition is composed of two volumes of the “Geology, Geophysics & Environment”
Quarterly, numbered 1 and 2.
We would like to thank our authors of papers and business reports and studies for the
abundant materials submitted for publication. Considering the dif¿ culties of many editors
with obtaining specialist contributions, our scholarly activities indicated by the increased
number of publications are absolutely outstanding on a national scale. Undoubtedly, that
is a result of the consolidation of the Polish salt industry animated by the Polish Salt Mining
Association.
A considerable role in our circles is played by constructive co-operation of the scholarly
and research institutions with the Polish industrial companies.
The success of our “Salt Review” and its existence on the research market for several
years have been possible owing to ¿ nancial support offered by salt mines and associated
corporations.
At this point, we would like to thank especially the following: IKS Solino SA, Grupa
Orlen SA, KGHM Polska MiedĨ SA, Kopalnia Soli Wieliczka SA, OBR G.S. Chem.
Chemkop SA, PRWiG Warszawa Sp. z o.o., Hydronafta Piáa Sp. z o.o., Sandvik Mining
and Construction Sp. z o.o., Investgas SA, and CFT Polska Sp. z o.o. for kind sponsoring
of the XVI International Quo Vadis Sal Symposium which took place in ToruĔ on 13–14 Oc-
tober 2011, whose budget also covered the publication of this year’s “Salt Review”.
Our special gratitude is directed to the Management and Workers of IKS Solino SA,
the hosts of the last year’s Symposium, for excellent and substantive co-operation and perfect
preparation of our conference.

Salt Review
Vol. 37 No. 2 (2011)PREFACE
Dear Readers,
We are writing on behalf of our board of editors, authors and other co-operating persons and institutions to invite you to read Volume V of our “Salt Review” Monograph, issued as Volume 2 of the “Geologia” quarterly by the AGH University of Science and Technology Press in Kraków.
The preparation and edition of the “Salt Review” is partly financed by the Polish Salt Mining Association (PSGS).
In the first part of the Volume, we present the papers concerning the salt matters in Poland and abroad. Some of them were read during the XV International Quo Vadis Sal Symposium in Świeradów-Zdrój.
The second part contains topical reports and announcements about the Polish salt industry in general.
The “Salt Review” Monograph is published owing to kind sponsorship of the Polish salt mines and corporations co-operating with our salt industry. We take this opportunity to express our gratitude to: KGHM Polska Miedź SA, KGHM Cuprum Sp. z o.o., University of Wrocław, IKS Solino S.A., Grupa Lotos SA, and Kopalnia Soli Wieliczka for their substantive and financial aid before and during the XV International Quo Vadis Sal Symposium in Świeradów-Zdrój on 21–22.10.2010, as this Volume contains the Symposium proceedings.
We would also like to thank the authors of papers and reports and the paper reviewers for their time and intellectual contribution to make this Volume complete.
The Monograph series entitled the “Salt Review” prepared mostly by the members of the Polish Salt Mining Association working at universities, research institutes, agencies and industrial corporations, is an excellent example of substantive and creative co-operation between science and industry. We are convinced that our co-operation brings real benefits to the Polish salt business and offers information about our modest contribution to the industry development for the benefit of future generations.
