Declaration about Ghostwriting and Guest Authorship

Integrity in science is one of the foundations of quality. Readers should be sure that the authors of publications present the results of their work in a transparent, honest and fair manner, regardless of whether they are the direct authors, or used with the aid of a specialized entity (natural or legal person).
Transparency of information on entities that contributed to the publication (contribution of knowledge, material, financial, etc..) is the evidence of an ethical attitude of the scientist and the highest standards of journal editing. This is a manifestation not only of good manners, but also of social responsibility.
Ghostwriting and guest authorship are contrasting examples of malpractice. 
In the case of ghostwriting a person has made a substantial contribution to the manuscript, without disclosing his/her participation as a co-author, or without mentioning his/her role in the acknowledgments of the publication.
In the case of guest authorship (honorary authorship), a person is listed as author or co-author of manuscript despite his/her contribution was minimal or worse he/she did not contribute to creation of manuscript at all.

Therefore, the editors inform the author as follows:

1.Editors are obliged to require authors to disclose individual contributions of each of authors in the creation of manuscript (with their affiliations and contributions, i.e. who is the author of concepts, principles, methods, the protocol, etc. used in the preparation of the manuscript). The corresponding author bears primary responsibility for providing the requested information.
2.Editors explain in the Instructions for authors that ghostwriting and guest authorship are manifestations of scientific misconduct, and any detected cases will be exposed, including notification of relevant entities (institutions employing the authors, research societies, associations of editors of scientific journals, etc.)
3.Editors require authors to disclose information on sources of funding of publications, contribution of scientific research institutions, associations and other entities (financial disclosure)
4.Editors will document all forms of scientific misconduct, particularly violations of ethics rules in science.
5.Each of the authors responsible for the submission of publication will be required to make a statement on ghostwriting and guest authorship.

Review procedure (single-blind review)

Any manuscripts received for review will be treated as confidential documents. They are first evaluated by the editors to determine if they merit full external review. Reviewers for Journal of Casting & Materials Engineering are selected from the wider scientific community by the editors on the basis of their knowledge of the field. All papers are reviewed in a single-blind manner, that is, reviewer names are anonymised, so the Journal does not share their identity with the authors. Reviewers are chosen in such a way that any potential conflict of interest (including any financial, personal or other relationships) between them and the authors is disclosed. The corresponding author is then informed of the editorial decision by e-mail. It is rare for submitted manuscripts to be accepted without the need for revision. Please note that the request for a revision does not guarantee acceptance.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  • Declaration about ghostwriting

    I declare that I have been informed about the principles related to ghostwriting and guest authorship.
    Therefore, together with a manuscript submitted to the Journal of Casting & Materials Engineering, I submit a separate attachment with the details of entities that contributed to the publication (contribution of knowledge, physical, financial, etc.), together with their affiliations and contributions such as information who is the author of concepts, principles, methods, the protocol, etc. used in the preparation of manuscript, contribution to research institutions, associations and other entities (financial disclosure).
    As the person who submitted the manuscript I accept my responsibility for providing truthful information.

  • All Authors must indicate their individual contribution to the paper. Contribution Declaration Form is available here:Contribution Declaration Form . This completed form needs to be signed, scanned and uploaded as a Supplementary File (Step 4) along with the original manuscript submission.

  • Please suggest 3 reviewers for your article. Please provide their name, surname, e-mail and affiliation of each reviewer.

    All reviewers couldn't be only from Poland.

    Names, degree and e-mail adresses should be included in the section Comments to the Editor.

  • At submission, every Author listed in the manuscript must read and complete the Author Declaration Form available here: Authors Declaration Form. Upload the signed copy (scanned form) with your submission as a supplementary file (Step 4).
  • In submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the information in Review procedure (single-blind review) have been followed.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in the section About the Journal.
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. See Author Guidelines

Original Articles

Original Articles report novel and significant research results in casting and materials engineering, including experimental, numerical, and theoretical studies.

Review Articles

Review Articles provide comprehensive and critical overviews of recent advances, trends, and challenges in the field of casting and materials engineering.

Short Communications

Short Communications present concise reports of novel findings or methods that merit rapid dissemination but do not yet justify a full-length article.

Technical Papers

Technical Papers describe new or improved experimental techniques, numerical tools, measurement methods, or practical solutions relevant to casting and materials engineering.

Case Studies

Case Studies report practical industrial applications, implementation results, or detailed analyses of specific engineering problems encountered in casting and materials processing.

The personal data of users of the Journal of Casting & Materials Engineering (JCME) website are processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR).

Data Controller

The controller of personal data processed through the JCME website is AGH University of Krakow, al. Mickiewicza 30, 30-059 Krakow, Poland.

Scope and Purpose of Data Processing

Personal data provided by users of the JCME website, including names, e-mail addresses, affiliations, ORCID iDs, contact details, and other information entered into user profiles or provided during the submission, review, and editorial processes, are processed solely for purposes related to the operation of the journal and its publishing activities.

These purposes include, in particular:

  • managing user accounts;

  • manuscript submission and editorial processing;

  • peer review;

  • communication between authors, reviewers, editors, and journal staff;

  • publication and dissemination of scholarly articles and their metadata;

  • indexing, identification, and registration of published scholarly content;

  • maintaining the integrity and documentation of the scholarly publishing process;

  • ensuring the proper technical operation and security of the journal website.

Legal Basis for Processing

Personal data are processed on the basis of the applicable provisions of the GDPR, in particular where processing is necessary for the performance of tasks related to the scientific and publishing activities of AGH University of Krakow, for compliance with legal obligations, for the legitimate interests associated with operating and securing the journal publishing system, or on the basis of the data subject's consent where consent is required.

Recipients of Personal Data

Personal data will not be used for purposes unrelated to the activities of JCME and will not be made available to third parties for marketing purposes.

Where necessary for the operation of the journal and dissemination of scholarly publications, relevant personal data and publication metadata may be provided to entities supporting the publishing, indexing, identification, archiving, and scholarly communication processes, as well as to service providers responsible for the technical operation and maintenance of the journal platform.

Personal data appearing as part of published scholarly content or publication metadata, such as authors' names, affiliations, and ORCID iDs, may be made publicly available and transmitted to scholarly indexing and registration services.

Data Retention

Personal data are retained for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which they were collected and in accordance with applicable legal, archival, and scholarly publishing requirements.

Certain information relating to published articles and the editorial and peer-review record may be retained for an extended period where this is necessary to preserve the integrity, traceability, and documentation of the scholarly record.

Rights of Data Subjects

Subject to the conditions specified in the GDPR, data subjects have the right to request access to their personal data, rectification of inaccurate data, erasure of data, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing, where applicable.

Where processing is based on consent, the data subject has the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before its withdrawal.

Data subjects also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority – the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych) in Poland.

Cookies and Technical Data

The JCME website may use cookies and other technical data necessary for user authentication, maintaining user sessions, ensuring website security, and providing the functions of the journal publishing platform.

Where cookies or similar technologies requiring user consent are used, such consent will be obtained separately in accordance with applicable law.

Confidentiality

Personal data collected through the JCME website will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of the journal and will not be sold, disclosed, or otherwise made available for commercial or marketing purposes.

Information relating to manuscripts and peer review is treated as confidential in accordance with the journal's editorial and peer-review policies.
